LinkedIn Year Audit

See what actually worked on your LinkedIn this year, from your own export.

Signal

Signal describes package standing, not measured performance.

Reads the analytics export you download from LinkedIn and tells you what worked this year. You get your totals, your follower growth, how much of the year a few posts carried, and which kinds of posts reached people versus which got reactions, with the number behind every claim. It runs on your computer and uploads nothing. It also tells you what the export cannot show: LinkedIn lists only your 50 best posts, without their text. Method by Federico De Ponte.

What worked, with the number behind each claim

"Reach and reactions pull apart in this file: stories and bold claims travel, launches and milestones get the response. Which to favour is the author's call."

Reach
Personal stories: 36% of top-50 impressions (n = 15)
Reactions
Launches: 1.59% engagement rate vs 0.80% median (n = 6, a hint)
Concentration
Top 50 posts = 50% of the year; one post = 6.2%
Caveat
The export lists only the top 50 posts

A real run on Federico De Ponte's own export, computed on his computer with nothing uploaded. 2,274,862 impressions in 365 days and 485,705 members reached. Followers went from about 2,630 to 9,114: 6,484 new in the year. The 50 listed posts brought 50% of the year's impressions, the top 10 brought 22%, and one post alone brought 6.2%. Personal stories carried the reach: 36% of top-50 impressions (n = 15), though 140,935 of their 416,513 impressions are one post. Launches and announcements got the reactions: a 1.59% engagement rate against a 0.80% median across the 50 posts (n = 6, a hint, not a result). The posting day showed nothing to conclude. The export lists only the top 50 posts, with no text, so it cannot show what failed or how many posts were published. Themes were read from the few cut-off words LinkedIn keeps in each post link and were not checked by the author.
